T-Mobile aims high with HTC Sensation 4G !!!!!!!!!!!!

The HTC Sensation on T-Mobile sports a 4.3-inch 540 by 960-pixel screen and can shoot 1080p video...but who knows when it'll be on sale?
The number-four U.S. mobile operator T-Mobile has formally announced that it will offer the HTC Sensation 4G, a new high-end Android smartphone the company is touting as its most powerful Android handset to date. The HTC Sensation will feature a 4.3-inch high-resolution display, a 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragon processor, and the capability to shoot 1080p video. There’s only one hitch: T-Mobile isn’t saying a word about when the HTC Sensation will actually be on sale, or how much it might cost.
HTC Sensation (T-Mobile)
Emphasizing the that HTC Sensation will be at the high end of T-Mobile’s offerings, the company touts the phone’s performance, aluminum unibody design, and sleek look and feel. The HTC Sensation is essentially an evolution of the HTC Evo 3D, with a high-resolution 540-by-960 high-rez display measuring 4.3-inches, an 8 megapixel camera (with LED flash) that can shoot 1080p video at 30 frames per second; and it’ll be loaded with HTC’s own HTC Sense 3.0 front end on top of Android 2.3, which will include a “more cinematic” experience including weather updates with “stunning imagery” and “audible weather effects.” The Sensation will also offer basic on-board video editing so users can prep their video clips for uploading to sharing sites without needing to offload to a clunky computer. As a “4G” device, it will connect to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ mobile network and theoretically be capable of download speeds over 14 Mbps, and there’s a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat.

A new look at the Droid X2 review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some more images of the supposed Droid X2 have surfaced, revealing some decent pictures, but no new information.
Motorola Droid X2Android Central has gotten its hands on some new images of the upcoming Motorola Droid X2. The photo quality isn’t anything to get excited about, and they don’t reveal anything new since the supposedly leaked pictures we got a look at in February.  The device will allegedly launch during the second quarter, and that’s about all we know. There are varying reports about its specs but just for the sake of Droid love, here are the latest:
  • Android 2.2.2 (Froyo)
  • HDMI output, Micro USB port
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with dual LED flash
Otherwise, the device is nearly identical to the original Droid X. Its specs (from what we’ve heard thus far) are pretty similar as well, which might get you wondering what exactly is new and different about the Droid X2. There’s no hint as to whether it will run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, but it seems fairly safe to assume it will. For anything else, we’ll keep our ear to ground on new details and of course, keep waiting for the phone’s official announcement in the Motorola lineup. Until then, enjoy.

Google VP Andy Rubin defends Android’s openness!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite reports to the contrary, Android head Andy Rubin has come out in a new blog post stating that Android, the #1 mobile operating system in the US, will remain as open as it has always been.
android
In an attempt to tamp-down fears that Google was closing the open doors of Android to the development community, Google’s vice president of engineering Andy Rubin took to theAndroid Developers blog with a single message: Android will remain an open platform.
Rubin’s assurances that Android will remain the open-source mobile platform it’s been since the beginning follow aBloomberg Businessweek report from last week that claimed Google has begun reigning in the “will-nilly tweaks to the software” made by the wide variety of handset makers and app developers that produce content for the mobile operating system.
Evidence of this came in the form of additional reports that showed Google has delayed releasing the source code of the Honeycomb version of Android, despite the fact that the OS has been available on the Motorola Xoom tablet since the end of February.
“Recently, there’s been a lot of misinformation in the press about Android and Google’s role in supporting the ecosystem. I’m writing in the spirit of transparency and in an attempt to set the record straight,” writes Rubin.

Google takes streaming music app Grooveshark from Android Market!!!!!!!!!!

Grooveshark still hasn't worked it out with the record labels and that may have cost it a spot in Google's Android Marketplace.
Google on Tuesday removed the popular music streaming app Grooveshark from its Android Marketplace. Grooveshark has drawn the ire of the music industry for allegedly violating copyright laws.
The Gainesville, Florida-based Grooveshark, which also exists as website, calls itself “the world’s music library.” The service relies on users to upload music to the site where it’s stored and made available for other users to stream.  The Web-based service is free, but Grooveshark charges monthly subscriptions for access to its mobile apps.
Google’s decision to remove the app comes as the company is facing increased scrutiny from lawmakers over sites that offer services or goods that are alleged to violate copyright laws. Google’s chief counsel Kent Walker is scheduled to appear today in front of the House Judiciary Committee during a hearing that will address online piracy. Google has been accused of profiting from copyright infringement by permitting piracy sites to use Google’s ad service. Google has denied those claims.

Japanese scientists develop human-shaped phone that feels like real skin!!!!!!!!!!

There are no limits to the imagination of Japanese scientists. A group of researchers has created a portly mobile phone that is shaped like a naked genderless doll and feels like human skin.
japanese-human-phone-that-feels-like-skin
Science is always marching forward, but does it need to carry a human-shaped phone in its pocket? Yesterday, Japanese researchers at Osaka University announced that they have created a human-shaped mobile phone with an outer coating that feels like skin, reports the AFP. The goal: to let you “feel closer” to those you’re talking to on the phone. We wonder, do Japanese men and women often touch faces as they talk to their friends?
“The mobile phone may feel like the person you are talking to,” said the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR) in a press release. It also described the gadget as a “revolutionary telecom medium.”
The current prototype is a bit bigger than a human hand. Shaped like a unisex doll, it has a speaker in its head and a blue/red LED light embedded in its chest, which notifies users when the phone is in use or in standby. Future iterations of the device will have image and voice recognition, so you’re phone will know what you look and sound like. Scientists hope to have a human-phone on the market within the next five years.

Nexus S 4G announced review!!!!!!!!!!

Google reveals the Nexus S 4G phone for Sprint, which offers an unprecedented level of integration with Google Voice, allowing customers to use a phone number from either service across a network of phones without having to port anything.
Google Nexus S
Sprint may not be too happy with the AT&T acquisition of T-Mobile, but there are still reasons for the company to celebrate today. A now-removed listing on its website revealed that Nexus S is coming to the network with “fully integrated” support for Google Voice, Engadget reports.
“Use the same number for all your calls and get cool features like voicemail transcription, Web calling and more,” a search on Sprint’s website for “nexus” revealed before it was removed. With the wireless provider’s CTIA presentation coming later today, you can expect the listing to be restored in short order.
Why wait though? The new Nexus S has already been confirmed and revealed on the Google Mobile Blog in a post this morning. Some technical details about the phone are also revealed, which you can read right here:
“We co-developed Nexus S 4G with Samsung to tightly integrate hardware and software and highlight the advancements of Gingerbread. Nexus S 4G takes advantage of Sprint’s high-speed 4G data network. It features a 4” Contour Display designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and along the side of your face. It also features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC (near field communication) hardware that lets you read information from everyday objects that have NFC tags.”

Vogel iPad WallMount review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vogel's iPad accessories: The WallMount, CarMount and TableMountOh no, not another iPad accessory that I'll struggle to find a use for...
Admittedly, that was my first thought when Vogel's iPad wall mount landed on my desk. After all, why on earth would you want to go to the trouble of mounting your device on a wall?
So whilst I went about my daily business, in the back of my mind I was trying to imagine how I could possibly utilise it.Vogel's iPad WallMount: Easy to assemble
This accessory is a mount and cover system all in one - so you can protect your iPad as well as 'hang' it anywhere you choose.
The pack is easy to assemble and comes with a lightweight connector which allows the mount to be connected to Vogel's other products: the CarMount and TableMount.
The first step though is to attach your iPad to the base cover - fairly simple, it just snaps into place. Vogel's iPad accessories: The WallMount, CarMount and TableMount
Then you attach your connector and fit to whichever wall you desire after using adhesive or screws. In my case, the kitchen was the best option so I could refer to the iPad while reading my recipe.
An added bonus is that the connector allows you to rotate your device 360 degrees.
While a wall mount for the iPad had limited use for me, I'd be more likely to buy the CarMount (it can be attached to the front headrest so a back seat passenger can use it) and the TableMount (it comes with a stand).

Google Nexus S smartphone review!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samsung Nexus S mobile phone
It’s not you, it’s me. No, really, it is.
You see, I do love you really. I love your big face. I love your curves. No, you’re not fat, you’re just… nice to hold. I like holding you close to me.
And you’re very responsive to my lightest touch. And Smart too,
But you see, rightly or wrongly, I’m a creature of habit. I don’t have a lot of time to myself these days and I can’t put up with your demands for my attention.
And, if I’m honest, there’s someone else. And I can’t stop thinking about her. She’s a  bit square. And a little overweight, but she’s very pretty. And I’ve loved her for a long time.
The Samsung Nexus S mobile phone has a slightly curved scree for added comfort when making calls
Okay, okay… don’t get angry. Some people don’t like her – they say she hasn’t got much going for her, that she holds me back.  Her name’s Apple. Apple iPhone 4.
So, therein lies my problem.
I’ve had the Samsung’s Google Nexus S for a couple of weeks now and it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions.
First time I switched it on I adored it. I wanted it in my hand all the time. Time was gobbled up browsing through the Android Market – the phone’s equivalent of Apple’s App Store.
Within hours I had changed the keyboard several times, I had it loaded with games, I had a screensaver of soothing Koi carp and I was Googling everything I could think of.

Smartfish Engage Keyboard adjusts to prevent strain and injury!!!!!!!!!

This keyboard from Smartfish tracks your typing patterns and adjusts itself to avoid stress and fatigue.
With the amount of jobs that require staring at a computer all day long multiplying like rabbits, plus our desire to continue typing on various gadgets when we get home at night, the risk for stress and injury is no laughing matter. The Engage Keyboard ($150) from Smartfish uses ErgoMotion technology to help better the way you type. Its curved design and separated keyboard aim to eliminate the natural stress that occurs from typing, but the real design feat is in the company’s ErgoMotion technology, which uses motion of the keyboard to prevent the stress that comes from constantly typing in the exact same position.

Nintendo 3DS review (Japanese)

Nintendo 3DS review (Japanese)
It's been almost a year since Nintendo revealed the 3DS to the world, trotted it out at E3, held proudlyby a flotilla of genetically-cloned and identically-dressed ladies. Of course we knew about it long before that, but when it comes to glasses-free 3D screens seeing is believing. After that first glimpse we were left intrigued by the technology, but we wouldn't say we were exactly believers. Now, after spending about a week living with one of Nintendo's $250 consoles, working with one, gaming with one, and practicing kana with one, we've seen the light. The fancy-pants screen works, but it only does so with a lot of caveats.
