Gateway NV59c Review!!!!!!!!!!

Review: The Gateway NV59c makes a stylish pop-up entertainment center for around the house, but won’t be quite as home on the road.

Whether you’re folded into a hostel bunk beside a bunch of snoring Germans, holed up in a concrete box of a dorm room, or just too cheap for a TV, a laptop can be as much an entertainment center as a tool for communication, study and productivity. Gateway’s NV59c shoulders the burden of keeping users grinning with a 15.6-inch screen, integrated Blu-ray player, and even built-in WiMax for keeping the Hulu, YouTube and Netflix videos rolling, even when you’re away from home. While it’s far from the ideal travel notebook, its affordable prices and comfortable controls make the NV59c a decent value for the right type of user. Features

Gateway stuffs the NV59c with processors as fast as the Core i5 460M and options like ATI Radeon HD 5470 or Nvidia GeForce 320M graphics, but our NV59c66u came with a Core i3 370M (clocked at 2.4GHz) and vanilla Intel HD graphics. It also sports a 500GB hard drive, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Blu-ray drive.

At a portly 5.72 pounds and 1.34 inches thick, the NV59 certainly feels happiest on a desktop, but it’s actually reasonably competitive — A similarly equipped Dell Inspiron 15 packs a little more meat on the bones while HP’s G62 cuts a bit away, leaving the NV59 about average.

WebOS Coming To The PC? What?

Tweetsare coming in from HP’s press conference today that WebOS – the mobile operating system HP purchased along with Palm last year – will be coming to desktops and laptops.  Very few details as yet, but wow… what a move.

As of Q4 2009, HP was by far and away the biggest home computer company, holding nearly 20% of the market according to Gartner.  If they start aggressively marketing and distributing WebOS, that’s a serious threat to Microsoft Windows.

Sony Unveils Light-emitting Vaio C Series Laptops

Sony has unveiled the light-emitting Vaio C laptop series. The laptop shines as the edges of the touchpad, VAIO logo and lid radiate light even when the machine is off. That’s because it’s made up of special material that transfers light through it without power.

Colors

The Vaio C series if available in 4 different shades: Neon Orange, Neon Green, Lightning White and Bolt Black. However, only the Neon Orange and Neon Green use the special light-transferring material. The C Series is available in two sizes: 14″ and 15.5″.

New MacBook Pros Bring Faster Processors, Thunderbolt &,

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Apple has updated its MacBook Pro line, upgrading processors and graphics and adding a high-speed Thunderbolt I/O port and a new FaceTime-enabled HD camera.

The biggest news is the inclusion of Thunderbolt (Light Peak) technology, which Intel developed. In practice, it’s a dual Thunderbolt/DisplayPort I/O port (marked by a lightning icon) that provides two bi-directional channels with data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps.

The new FaceTime HD camera triples the resolution of the previous MacBook Pro cameras, enabling 720p video chats.

Finally, note the inclusion of Intel’s new Sandy Bridge CPU architecture, coupled with a switch to AMD Radeon graphics for the 15-inch and a 17-inch models, which have previously been powered by Nvidia’s graphics chips.
